Authorities remove 32 tons of garbage from a property in Mayapan

The Government Directorate of the Mérida City Council reported that this weekend 32 tons of garbage were removed from a property located on 14th and 41st Street in the Mayapán neighborhood, after receiving a citizen report detailing various violations of the regulations for the Cleaning, Health, and Conservation of the Municipality’s Properties.

In coordination with the Directorate of Civil Protection, Public Services, the Municipal Police, the DIF, and the Subdirectorate of Health of the Directorate of Human Welfare, the agency reported that six of the eight dogs found on the property were placed under protection at the site. ; action carried out by the Environmental Protection Unit that will be responsible for vaccinating, deworming, sterilizing them, and incorporating them into an adoption program to guarantee their well-being.

With the authorization of the property owner, cargo trucks of various tonnage were used to remove the waste and transport it to the landfill.

The Director of the Interior, Carmen González Martín, reported that 20 properties that accumulate garbage have been detected, so they are already analyzing what actions will be taken and how the efforts of the different areas will be coordinated to provide adequate management to each situation.

Among the criteria for clean properties are the accumulation of flammable material, obstructed sidewalks, and excess garbage in the area.

In recent days, the Mérida City Council removed 90 tons of garbage from a property in Pacabtún.
