Mothers members of the Sabina Law Collective against child support debtors this morning placed a “clothesline” with photographs in the flea market in the Francisco I. Madero neighborhood, located west of the city, exposes around 15 parents who fail to pay child support. Their daughters and sons for years, many have even lost track of them.
Yahaira Cardona, one of the mothers who attended the protest, pointed out that these actions are carried out to expose the debtors and in one way or another do justice since by law the process is very slow.
“The processes are long and time-consuming. On many occasions, debtors, parents of our children, use legal issues to further lengthen the processes before the authorities, a situation that hurts us as mothers but even more so for our children,” he explained.
For her part, Siloé Fuentes, who is part of the group, stated that in Yucatán it is a situation that is constantly growing because more and more mothers are not staying silent and are seeking support so that these parents can comply with their children.
“That is why we use these public spaces to make the situation and our debtors known, as well as to make more women aware that there is a movement that can support them in their situation,” she noted.
They pointed out that they will continue to carry out these “clotheslines” throughout the year and will even seek to do them in municipalities of the State where they are aware that these cases exist.
