The Red Cross delivers coffee and bread to hospitals in Mérida

As part of the humanitarian activities of the Mexican Red Cross Yucatán Delegation, the State Volunteer Coordination with other areas organized the delivery of coffee and bread to the doors of the city’s hospitals.

The State Delegate, Michelle Byrne de Rodríguez, recalled that respect and empathy for others are part of the fundamental principles of the institution and the “Coffee and Bread Program”, carried out throughout the country through state and local delegations, expresses the essence of the Red Cross, which is the passion to serve others.

The head of Volunteering, Antonio García Fuentes, explained that this action seeks to show solidarity with people who go to hospitals to care for their relatives or to receive reports and do not always have sufficient resources to cover the expenses that this generates.

“In addition to delivering the food that the volunteers themselves donate, they talk and wish for good news, especially on these dates that are usually family gatherings,” said García Fuentes.

The activity carried out over the weekend was joined by Juventinos, paramedics, instructors, veterans, students from the State School of Medical Emergency Technicians #16, and social volunteers, who visited the Agustín O’ Horán and Benito Juárez hospitals of the IMSS where They distributed more than one hundred cups of coffee and 155 pieces of bread.

At the Xcanatún community, vulnerable elderly people who require support were detected, so they were given one box of groceries per family to help them.
