On the morning of Wednesday, December 18, a man was attacked by a cat shark while fishing on the beaches of Tulum.
The incident occurred between 8 and 9 a.m., although authorities were informed of the attack several hours later.
According to what was reported, the injured person is a man by trade as a fisherman known as Alex, nicknamed “Chulos.”
This event was recorded while the fisherman was working in the Caleta area, in Tankah, near the Riviera Maya. His relatives immediately transferred him privately to the Hospiten Hospital in Playa del Carmen, where he was treated for his injuries.
The man, who is in charge of Casa Cenote, a body of water located in the area, suffered up to three bites on his right leg, leaving quite serious injuries. Until now, the health status of the fisherman who suffered the shark attack in Tulum is unknown. It is also not known if there are more marine animals of that species near the place where the incident occurred.
