Mara Lezama Espinosa, governor of Quintana Roo, announced the launch of a new direct flight between London and Cancun, operated by Virgin Atlantic.
In addition, this new service, which will begin at the end of 2025, was achieved thanks to the negotiations of the Quintana Roo delegation during the World Travel Market (WTM) event and will strengthen the connection between the Mexican Caribbean and the United Kingdom.
In addition, Governor Mara Lezama highlighted that this new flight is an invaluable opportunity for the state, as it will allow more tourists from the United Kingdom to enjoy the natural and cultural beauties of Quintana Roo.
This effort is part of the “New Era of Tourism” promoted by his government, with a focus on shared prosperity and responsible growth.
“This tourism success will bring more shared prosperity for the people of Quintana Roo, positioning Quintana Roo as one of the preferred destinations in the world,” stated the governor.
The World Travel Market, one of the most relevant tourism events globally, was crucial to consolidating alliances and strengthening air connectivity in Quintana Roo.
During the event, agreements were made with airlines such as Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Qatar Airways, and Iberojet, and alliances with tour operators such as Coral Travel Group and Odeonbeds.
