On the instructions of Mayor Erik Rihani and through the Fisheries Directorate, a workshop on caring for the seas was held with the aim of raising awareness and training citizens, local authorities, and key actors in the protection of these ecosystems and our coasts.
The workshop was given by Valentina Vanegas Espinosa, coordinator of the Yucatan Peninsula of the Mexican Institute of Marine Conservation (IMCM), with the aim of promoting collective actions and strengthening community resilience through participation and networking.
Likewise, Mitsuri Zapata, facilitator of the Umbela Association, contributed to the workshop with interactive dynamics that enriched the experience.
This activity promotes responsible and sustainable practices for the conservation of our marine ecosystems and guarantees their preservation for future generations. More than a workshop, it represents an urgent call to reflect on the scarcity of fish and the decline of marine fauna.
The event is part of the municipal program “100xProgress”, which reflects everyone’s commitment to building a more sustainable future for our coasts and seas.
