Yucatán hosts the first International Education Center for the Nobel Peace Summit, with which the entity takes a significant step towards a more peaceful and prosperous world through the ideals of cooperation and education that have characterized our state.
In the Portrait Room of the Government Palace, and the presence of the President and Permanent Secretary of the World Summit of Nobel Prize Laureates, Ekaterina Zagladina, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena reiterated the willingness of his administration to collaborate with this center, which offers educational courses focused on promoting peace and improving the quality of life of people, as well as in communities.
The International Education Center, created in collaboration with the Autonomous University of Yucatán and located in the former Faculty of Law of UADY, in the Fraccionamiento del Parque, is a symbol of our commitment to promoting peace, dialogue, and learning. “Here we will bring together people from all walks of life to exchange experiences, learn from each other, and train the next generation of leaders who will carry forward the principles of peace and justice,” she said.
Díaz Mena highlighted the importance of education to perpetuate peace, which, she said, is built with understanding, fostering empathy, and preparing Yucatecan youth to face the challenges of our state, country, and the world. She reiterated that the International Education Center will be a platform for collective work where global problems will be addressed and sustainability will be promoted, to inspire future generations to become champions of peace.
“The establishment of this center is a recognition of our history, our culture, and our commitment to being a land of peace. This center is not only for academics and experts; it is for every child, every young person, and every citizen who believes in the possibility of a better future,” she said.
For her part, Ekaterina Zagladina expressed her gratitude to the State Government for its willingness to work together for the benefit of Yucatecan youth. He explained that, as part of this project, the aim will be to promote initiatives related to peace issues, as well as to establish a Center for Studies and Thoughts where Nobel Peace Prize winners can come to share their experience and knowledge.
The Rector of UADY, Carlos Estrada Pinto, was present; the Associate for Mexico and Latin America of the Permanent Secretariat of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Prize Winners, José Quiñones Guzmán; as well as the heads of the Secretariats of Women, Education and Youth of the State, Sisely Burgos Cano, Juan Balam Várguez and Alan Padrón Albornoz, respectively.
