After residents of Susulá raised their voices this Wednesday, October 30, claiming that Lionel Vicente, a minor who disappeared in Ciudad Caucel on the 26th, was being held by a couple on a property in the community. The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) confirmed the facts.
Through a statement, it was indicated that the minor was at the home of a couple in that town, who initially denied knowing the minor’s whereabouts to the investigating police officers.
“Ángel Luis D. P., 45 years old and originally from the state of Tabasco, and his romantic partner Guadalupe M. C., 54, known in the town of Susulá as Los campechanos, were presented to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) by the State Police of Investigation (PEI) of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), for legal proceedings,” it is stated.
In addition, the operation that was implemented to locate the child with the participation of police elements, firefighters with dogs trained in locating people, and investigative police with drones equipped with thermal and infrared cameras was highlighted. Members of the State Commission and National Person Search Commission of the Ministry of the Interior also participated.
The investigations included several hours of review and analysis of videos from the state police video surveillance system and private cameras provided by their owners, to learn how the minor’s journey took place.
In a video from the C5i cameras, he is seen crossing the Mérida-Tetiz highway, accompanied at a short distance by a woman who turned out to be Guadalupe M. C. The PEI agents showed these videos to the parents who immediately identified the woman because They knew her during the time they lived in Susulá.
That same Monday night, the agents searched that town and interviewed the couple; but both denied that the young man had been with them; The woman said that she had seen him on the road, but that they took different directions.
Meanwhile, the search in the territory intensified on Monday night with the entire SSP search team in raids in which parents, family members, and friends from Ciudad Caucel participated. The next morning Lionel was found.
A relevant aspect for the investigators was the minor’s first statements when they found him in the bushes; He said that he had already drunk water and his clothing was not the same, an unusual situation in cases of missing people.
At the time of his location, the priority was to provide him with care by SSP paramedics, who took him in an ambulance to the hospital for medical evaluation, accompanied by his parents.
For their part, the investigating police continued their work to clarify the facts; They had no possibility of checking the home because they did not have a search warrant; But with the data they already had, they resumed the interview with the couple, who after incurring contradictions admitted that the minor was there and even handed over the clothes he was wearing on the day the disappearance was reported.
It will be the law enforcement authorities and, where appropriate, judicial authorities, who determine the process to be followed in relation to the people involved in the events.
