Mérida Municipal Police investigates an agent after incident with civilian disguised as “Optimus Prime”

The Municipal Police of Mérida (PMM) reported that it will analyze the actions of a corporation officer who was captured on video requesting the removal of a person disguised as “Optimus Prime” in La Mejorada Park, in the center of the Yucatecan capital.

Through a statement, the PMM announced that the agent’s actions were not supported by the corporation.

Consequently, he indicated that they have given instructions to the Internal Affairs area to carry out an analysis of the facts, in accordance with the “Regulations of Professional Police Career Service for the Municipality of Mérida, Yucatán.”

Depending on the results of this investigation, the case will be presented to the Commission on Honor and Justice and Police Career Professional Service, which will decide the actions to be taken regarding Officer W.P.B.

The incident occurred on October 15 at 4:30 PM, when “Optimus Prime” was presented at La Mejorada, where hundreds of children were eager to enjoy the character’s presence.

According to the testimony shared on Facebook by the “Personajes Monterrey” account, the officer who detained him not only asked him to leave but even surrounded him with other police officers, who demanded permission.

“I left disappointed and sad because many children will be left without their photo and will be very sad,” said the person in costume.

In addition, he said that he has held similar events in more than a thousand towns in Mexico, where, as stated, “he generally receives kind treatment and allows the children to enjoy his presence.”

The Municipal Police of Mérida has reaffirmed its commitment to act in accordance with the law and to guarantee a safe and friendly environment for all citizens, especially the little ones. Investigations are ongoing to clarify the facts and determine the corresponding actions.
