The mayor of Mérida, Cecilia Patrón Laviada, presented this Saturday the Mérida Marathon, which will take place on January 5, 2025, within the framework of the city’s anniversary.
Patron Laviada highlighted the value of this competition in promoting sports and tourism and generating economic benefits for the city, which is why he will promote it in Mexico City on October 8.
“We will go out to promote it so that more people know about the Mérida marathon, and that generates economic benefits and benefits in the city,” he commented.
The route changed this year since the runners will now pass through the Gran Parque de la Plancha, while 90 percent of it will remain the same as in previous editions.
In addition to the 42.195 km full marathon, there will also be a 21.0975 km half marathon, 10 km run, and 3 km walk.
The departures will be at different times. The marathon starts at 5 a.m., and the walk at 6:05 a.m. This year, they expect the participation of 4 thousand runners.
