During the regular session of the State Commission of Secretaries of Public Security or their equivalents, the Municipality of San Miguel was highlighted by the Secretariat of Public Security of the State of Guanajuato (SSPEG) as the only municipal corporation with 100 percent compliance with the 46 municipal commitments in terms of Security.
Andrei García, Secretary of Security in San Miguel, stressed that this distinction as a state “spearhead” is reflected in the fact that the San Miguel population lives in a safer municipality every day.
“We are working for them. We continue daily, punctually, being an example for all other municipalities and, obviously, for the Secretariat of Public Security of the State that San Miguel de Allende continues to be a reference, a corporation very attached to the principles, of the legality and above all to these commitments to work in favor of the population.”
This state distinction to the San Miguel Municipality was received personally by the Secretary of Government and City Hall, Laura González, who attended the session of the state commission at the General Directorate of the C5i State System.
In front of all the representatives of the 46 municipalities of Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende was recognized as the only one in all of Guanajuato that fully complied with each of the 46 commitments with the State.
The distinction was made orally by the state authorities of the then-called SSEPG headed by Alvar Cabeza de Vaca and which today was reconfigured as the Secretariat of Security and Peace in charge of Juan Mauro González.
Among them, all the instruments for crime prevention, attention to citizen reports, strengthening of its operational bodies, salary equalization, creation of specialized units, evaluations of trust, performance, application of protocols, certification of police cards and collective licenses, registration, and transparency in information stand out.
In addition to the above, there is an improvement in response times, coordination with local emergency bodies, training with citizen participation, updating of risk atlases, strategies for dealing with special events, and true coordination between the Municipality and the State.
With these accomplishments, San Miguel de Allende will lead the way in accessing the recently created Municipal Public Security Strengthening Fund, which amounts to 1.2 billion pesos, which will be distributed according to the criteria of the State Public Security Council, which will prioritize local corporations with the highest degree of commitment.
